Learning to Draw

fred_astaire.jpg There is a simple truth you should know about drawing. In order to learn to draw, you have to draw. You can read about technique and teachers can point you in the right direction, but you have to place the pencil on the paper and draw to learn how.

It’s a lot like learning to dance. You can watch Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies, you can buy a “salsa” dvd, but you can’t really learn to dance until you move your feet.

One step at a time is how you learn to dance, and one drawing at a time is how you learn to draw. It really is that simple.
