Hunting the Essence

I get such a feeling of joy when I’ve drawn something well. There is a magical moment when the essence of what I’m drawing is transferred to the paper and I know I’ve captured it. Inanimate objects, flowers, people, the weather, or anything at all have an essence that can be drawn. When I think of it like this, drawing seems more like a treasure hunt than an art form, and I look at everything with an eye to where its golden essence may be hidden.

Happy treasure hunting!
