The Balancing Act

I love to draw, I love making my art, and I even make some money doing that every now and then. For every hour I spend on art, though, I need to spend an equal amount of time doing all the other work which helps support the art. It seems like I should know this is a fact of life by now, but it’s still a little shocking to me. And I still make myself feel guilty about it, too. I keep thinking I should get caught up with all that other work and I should be able to spend all day making art. That is not true, was never true, and will never be true!

For many, many years, I worked a full time non-art job and had to squeeze in art time after work. Now, I still have to squeeze in art time after work. At least I get to say how much and when, but it’s still a difficult balancing act.
