How To Frame Miniature And ACEO Sized Art

Display Ideas

Display miniature artwork in a smaller sized frames in a grouping on a wall, shelf, or desk. A mixed collection of art can make a united wall display. If you collect ACEO’s or ATC’s, there are frames made especially for that size as well as albums for collections. (See below.)

A Word About Matting

Mats are used to keep the artwork away from the glass of the picture frame. It keeps the moisture condensation that can form on glass away from the art. I’ve personally discovered old photos permanently stuck to the glass, so protect your art.

Framing Miniature and Small Art

Frame miniature art in inexpensive ready made 8×10 or 4×6 frames, and have mats cut to fit the art in a color that suits your decor. Since ATC size art is so popular, you can buy ready made mats that fit popular sized frames. (See below.)

And since my medium is graphite pencil, pale yellows, greens, and dark blue go especially well with it. :)

If you want a frame that is actually a miniature too, consider miniature doll house picture frames. Some of these small frames are really exquisite and look lovely displayed on a small easel on a curio shelf. There are so many places that have dollhouse frames to mention, including Ebay, so do your own search for dollhouse sized picture frames. If you need a custom made size, there are fewer options and they are constantly changing, so try this search – made to order dollhouse sized picture frames.

(I hope the search suggestions don’t seem too obvious. Personally, I’m the world’s worst searcher, so I thought I’d spell them out to make your life easier if you are too.)

And here are some Dick Blick links for ATC framing supplies. They’re my favorite art supply store and I’m their affiliate. I do make money if you use my links and buy from them. If you do, thanks a lot. I really appreciate that.

Sadly, as much as I love Blick, I’m going to have point out that Jerry’s Artarama has some great inexpensive Viewpoint ATC Mats: 8×10’s in black, white, and beige with one opening and a 16×20 with nine openings. Here you go.
