Honestly, a field of weeds can send an artist into shock if they\u2019re not prepared.<\/p>\n<p>The secret to drawing complicated textures sanely is to break them down into steps. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Start in one small area and lay down a mid tone.<\/li>\n<li>Lay in the large shadow areas.<\/li>\n<li>Erase the large highlight areas.<\/li>\n<li>Add the smaller shadow areas.<\/li>\n<li>And erase the smaller highlight areas.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toadhollowstudio.com\/pine-cone.html\">Here are the drawn steps.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sneak up on those textures one step at a time! Don\u2019t let \u2018em scare you. I even write down which pencil or eraser I use for each step.
