Rosinski\" width=\"300\" height=\"295\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2452\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Line Drawing Creation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You can get a pretty good idea of how I sat up the line drawing by looking at it.<\/p>\n<p>I got lucky and picked the right sized large and small circle templates on the first try, but the trick is that the small circles need to be about the width of one section to fit side by side in larger circle. For the most shapely petals though, make the small circles large enough to overlap each other a little.<\/p>\n<p>To finish the design, I drew an arc from each small circle to the center of the large circle.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2453\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2453\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2453 size-full\" title=\"Eight lobed line drawing with extra lines erased. I used the kneaded eraser first as a precaution, because sometimes battery powered erasers smear heavily applied graphite with such force that it leaves an embedded smudge that&#8217;s nearly impossible to remove.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2461\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2461\" style=\"width: 214px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2461 size-full\" title=\"Flat Pencil Tip C. I wanted to preserve the hatching&#8217;s texture so I didn\u2019t use any blending tools. (Blending tools smear hatching.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brief Flat Pencil Point How-To<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Create a flat pencil point by running it back and forth over scrap paper. Use it by bringing the flat point directly over to the drawing without shifting your grip on the pencil.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2454\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2454\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2454 size-full\" title=\"Outlined petal. Outlined petal.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>A three step process to shade each petal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Draw a dark line around the edge. I don\u2019t normally start a drawing this way, but in this case I wanted the edge around each shape to be the deepest part, and deepest equals darkest in this situation.<\/p>\n<p>In the simple imaginary lighting used for this shape:\u00a0Light = Up and\u00a0Dark = Down<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2455\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2455\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2455 size-full\" title=\"Gradated Petal edge. Fill in the rest of the shape with a light hatch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Variations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To give a petal more depth, deepen the edge by darkening the outer edge of the gradation.<\/li>\n<li>A short edge gradation and wide top highlight makes a petal look wide and shallow.<\/li>\n<li>A smaller top highlight and tall edge gradation makes a petal look taller and more tapered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"clear: both;\"><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2458\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2458\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2458 size-full\" title=\"Finish 3d shaded eight petal shape.
