Graphite Pencil Drawings by Carol Rosinski

I’m a graphite pencil artist who makes serene, nature-themed art.

My drawings are my interpretation of reality as it filters through my art-making process.

I express ideas as they come to me by drawing form, space, value, and texture. I use my camera to capture references and then draw what I felt while taking the photo. My medium is the graphite pencil, which I find endlessly responsive and expressive.

Sometimes, I smooth my hatch marks with brushes that I trim for that purpose. I evolved this technique during many years of drawing with graphite. It creates a smooth finish that gives my drawings a soft look and feeling. Sometimes, I leave hatch marks to add interest. The process is constantly evolving and full of surprises.

As a graphite pencil artist, I have always been drawn to the grayscale beneath the colors of the world. It is a peaceful and magical place where form and texture coexist and create a beautiful harmony. I strive to capture some of that magic in my artwork.
